Scout Groups & Cadets Adventurous Activities
Here at Vertical Descents, we share the same values as the Scouts and believe very much in 'learning by doing'.
Director and Owner of Vertical Descents, Ben Starkie, was himself a keen Scout and Cadet in the Lakes during his childhood. Danny Watts, Head Guide at Vertical Descents Scotland, was a Cadet Leader for many years, and Joe Thurgood, one of our most experienced guides, also spent his teenage years in the Scouts in Yorkshire. We use their collective experience to ensure that Scout and Cadet groups always have a fantastic day out.
On top of that, our broad range of experience with military groups allows us to give cadets the kind of inspiring adventure activities they need.
Our adventurous activities develop the following (in line with the Scouting ethos):
- the ability to take responsibility
- the ability to take acceptable risks
- courage & leadership skills
- effective teamwork
- physical fitness
