Our White Water Rafting will allow you visit and experience some of Scotland’s wildest rivers. It will enable you to discover landscapes out of reach by normal means and experience the sensations of fast and powerful water. It is a must for lovers of adrenaline and team work.
Vertical Descents operates White Water Rafting on easy class 2 rivers to more technical and challenging class 5 rivers. Enjoy such rivers as The Awe and The Orchy and many more.
White Water Rafting is a water level dependant activity, however if there is no water we can offer Fun Yakking (duckies) or Canyoning as an alternative.

White Water Rafting
River Awe (2 hour trip – Grade 2/3) – Argyll Oban / Lochaber Fort William
The river awe is based about 20 minutes from Oban. This grade 2/3 river is great for children and families. Passing through the estate, there are plenty of stunning views and lots of fun and exciting rapids. The trip finishes at a country park where refreshments and beautiful smoked meats and cheeses can be bought. WATCH VIDEO

River Lochy (float trip) – Lochaber Fort William
This float trip down Lochaber’s biggest river is a great way to relax and take in the beautiful views of Ben Nevis. This is an ideal trip for elderly groups who want to do something a little different or indeed families with younger ones. The trip includes a stop for a picnic.
£45 per person

River Orchy (4-5 hour trip – Grade 4/5) – Argyll Oban
The River Orchy runs through the beautiful Glen Orchy, twisting its way through the glen, it picks up water from its tributaries before turning into one of the best white water runs Scotland has to offer.
This great piece of white water is a test of nerve as you descend the continuous class 4 rapids building your skills in order to take on the class 5 ones.
This full day adventure is only recommended to those who have rafted before.

River Garry (2 hour trip – Grade 3/4) – Lochaber Fort William
The River Garry is a dam released river, guaranteeing water all summer. The river is based just south of Fort Augustus. This great grade 3/4 river is a brilliant taster of Scottish rafting and is ideal for all abilities.
The river normally releases on a Thursday, however this is subject to change so please call to book your trip.
£45 per person

River Moriston (3 hour trip – Grade 4/5) – Lochaber Fort William
The River Moriston, running into the famous Loch Ness, is a true Scottish epic with many class 4/5 rapids which are all bedrock in style.
The natural rock and Scots pine running alongside the river makes the Moriston one of the most picturesque rivers in Scotland.
The River Moriston is a dam released river and runs on a Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the summer.
This full day adventure is only recommended to those who has rafted before

Please bring with you suitable clothing for the time of year and weather.
There is a height and or age restriction on this activity – Juniors need to be 1.2m+. Under 16 year olds require a parent or guardian to hand but aren’t required to take part. We are AALA Licensed to take juniors on adventurous activities.
Sessions Start – 9.30 am, 1.30 pm or 4.30 pm daily. All year round.
